Videotron / Nuova V. / Romagnoli etc.

  • Romagnoli and associates used five, maybe six, different brands!
  • Videotron was the most common one; alternative were Playkit, Play Car, Gampack, Nuova (new) Videotron and…Romagnoli.
  • It was operational in Villanova di Castenaso (Bologna), for about five years from '78 to '83.
  • It produced a lot of electronic devices, not only in the amusement area.
  • All these brands were used for illegal copies, with the excetion of Gampack, for a licensed version of a game (as the screen shows)…
  • …and Nuova Videotron, the brand of an original game (1983).
  • However, the history of this company is full of mysteries and no one knows anything about it now.

Car 2

Also produced by RZ. The RZ version is in MAME.

Astro Battle

Also produced by Sidam. The Sidam version is in MAME.

Griffon

A pirated version of Phoenix, emulated in MAME, is almost identical to Condor by Sidam.

Frogger

A Gamepack title, this could be the first "legal" game of this manifacturer, since the name of the original distributor for Europe (Sega corp.) is shown on the screen.

Stunt Air

After thirty years, an unit of this New Videotron game was recovered and, after the dumping, emulated in MAME with good precision.
Despite the fact that the gameplay is similar to Star Jacker by Sega, and the hardware is similar (but not equal), it seems that this game is an original, hack-free product.

The site coinop.it has a picture of a board of a New Videotron coin-op that is classified as "Junior". It was perhaps a misunderstanding of the name, in fact it seems to be a Stunt Air PCB.
